Polish Chamber of Waste Management (PIGO) was established on 14th April 2003 as an organization of economic autonomy by 145 companies working in the field of and interested in waste management.

PIGO's main targets set in The Statute are representing and protection of member's interests, creating market and industry in waste management.

PIGO promotes and develops sustainable waste management and modern communal
technology by means of economic and legal instruments to
diminish and prevent waste, to develop recykling and
recovery strategies and health care methods of
disposal. The Chamber supports member's
economic initiatives and provides law
creation opportunities along with high
standards of security and communal
hygiene.

PIGO is open to every company
working at waste trade, affiliating
in accordance with The Statute,
irrespective of size or model of
ownership. We invite to cooperation
and membership also communal
management companies, utilization
companies, companies of thermal
treatment, waste dumps, manufacturers
and branch companies offering products,
technologies, consulting and project services.

In accordance with tasks set in The Statute, PIGO
cooperates with municipal authorities, administration,
and other national and international organizations. Targets
and tasks of our chamber result from long-term experiences and
practice of professional economical activity of our members, and their
postulates are:

  • promoting Public Private Partnership

  • enforcement of legislation for treatment and waste disposal

  • overcome bureaucratic obstacles and facilitation regulation of activity rules in companies

  • proclamation of unfair competition

  • standardization of services and promoting modern solutions of technology

  • liquidation of illegal landfills

  • augmentation of outlay for waste management from public or European Union funds

Main form of activitty of our members is working at nine thematic Commissions, which are as follows: Commission for cooperation with authorities, Commission for technics and communal technology, Commission for recykling, Commission for hazardous waste and thermal treatment, Commission for landfills, Commission for international cooperation, Commission for legal issues, Commission for education and trainings, Commission for animal by-products.

PIGO's statements, its projects and activities are formed by Commissions and Council in progress of consultations where all stakeholders are equal partners, public and private entities with national, foreign or mixed capital.

PIGO is also a forum for exchanging opinions and ideas in important for member's issues and for all those, who care about environment.
